INDIA, Medieval. Uncertain. Lord Ram, circa 12th century. Gadhaiya (Billon, 15 mm, 3.91 g). SRI RAM ('Lord Ram' in Nagari, written top to bottom and read inwards) Highly stylized Sasanian head to right. Rev. Stylized Sasanian fire altar. Apparently unpublished and of great interest. Somewhat pitting, otherwise, about very fine.

This fascinating and unpublished type carries the name Rama, the famous hero of the Hindu epic Ramayana. It may have been issued by a temple or by a hitherto unknown king of the name Rama ruling in the 12th century.
